Buying Autographs on eBay
By Bill Coleman
Fake autographs on Ebay? I have read numerous times in numerous places that 90% of the signed material on eBay is not authentic, in other words almost all of it is fake or forged. Where that magical percentage comes from I have no idea, but I would bet that MORE than 90% of it is authentic. Now whether or not the one autograph that one wants for the price that one is willing to pay is authentic - now that's another story. Fact is, most people who get ripped off on autographs on eBay are those who are trying to come out on the good side of a deal. They want something that is worth more than they are willing to pay and they are willing to take a chance to get it. One of these people might see a signed photo of Frank Sinatra with a minimum bid of $50 and take a chance of it - ignoring that autograph dealers are seeing the same photo and choosing not to bid. |
