How to Hunt Arrowheads
By Bill Coleman
It might not make sense on the surface, but almost certainly the biggest detriment to a beginner successfully finding artifacts is hunting for artifacts - before he has actually pinpointed a site where it is actually worth spending time seriously looking. Look for lithic debris, usually in the form of chips and flakes, before you spend a lot of time looking for actual arrowheads and other finished artifacts. The more flakes and chips, the greater the likelihood of finding something really nice. Setting out looking for nice arrowheads "just anywhere" will probably be disappointing. Check out my outdoors blog for arrowhead hunting tips. |
