Songs About the Beatles at the Height of Beatlemania

Nothing in pop music before or since has matched the impact of the Beatles. Every recording star in the business felt the power of Beatlemania. Some even sang about it: "A Letter form Elaina" - by Casey Kasem of radio's Casey's Countdown fame. "Little Beatle Boy" - by The Angels of "My Boyfriend's Back" fame. "I Wanna Be a Beatle" - by Gene Cornish who later blazed his own trail as a member of the Young Rascals (Good Lovin' and dozens of other great songs.) "Beatle Beat" - by the one and only Ella Fitzgerald who attempts to latch onto a little Beatle magic with this song. "I Hate the Beatles" - by comedian Allan Sherman (Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah) who bashes the Beatles when it was still OK for people over 30 to hate them. "Saga of the Beatles" - by Johnny and the Hurricanes, a last ditch attempt to salvage a sagging career. "I Love You Ringo" by Bonnie Jo Mason who later became a tad bit better known using the name Cher. "We Love You Beatles" - The Carefrees' words of affection made it to 39 on the Top 40. "A Beatle I Want To Be" - Sonny Curtis, one of Buddy Holly's Crickets, isn't shy about wanting to join the group. |
