The First WWF Wrestlemania

Vince McMahon risked everything he owned on the first Wrestlemania. It was a success and it opened the door for his eventual domination of the professional wrestling industry. The rock 'n wrestling connection was born during this time. McMahon's WWF and MTV engaged in groundbreaking cross promotions. Hulk Hogan and Mr. T appeared on Saturday Night Live to promote their main event match with Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff. The first WrestleMania took place on March 31, 1985 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The results of Wrestlemania I: Tito Santana defeafted The Executioner King Kong Bundy (w/Jimmy Hart) defeated Special Delivery Jones (in 23 seconds) Ricky Steamboat defeated Matt Borne David Sammartino (w/Bruno Sammartino) vs Brutus Beefcake (w/Johnny Valiant... Double Disqualification Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik (w/Classy Freddie Blassie) defeated The US Express (Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham) (w/Lou Albano) for the WWF Tag Team Championship Andre the Giant over Big John Studd (w/Bobby Heenan) in a $15,000 Body Slam Match Wendi Richter (w/Cyndi Lauper) was victorious over Leilani Kai (w/The Fabulous Moolah) to become the WWF Women's Champion Hulk Hogan and Mr. T (w/Jimmy Snuka) defeated Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff (w/Cowboy Bob Orton).
