World's Tallest Actors
Clifford Thompson, who was the tallest man in the world at the time, had a claimed height of 8' 6". He acted in Hal Roach's Seal Skins with Zasu Pitts. Tex Erikson at 7' was in the movie Jungle Jim in the Forbidden Land. Peter Mahew, at 7' 2", played the monster in Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger and Chewbacca in the Star Wars franchise. Richard Keil, 7' 2", played the the Villain in the James Bond movies The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. John Bloom, 7' 4", was the Frankenstein monster in Dracula ve. Frankenstein. Jack Tarver, 7' 10", was the giant in the children's movie Jack and the Beanstalk. Andre the Giant, at 7', was Fezzik in the Princess Bride. Gheorghe Muresan, at 7' 7" was the giant in My Giant with Billy Crystal. Some of those heights have been disputed by various sources. Obviously, if one is selling himself as a giant, the taller the better and the possibility of exaggeration is high, especially since it's showbiz. |
